Emailing a Project Job Resource When Added

We use advanced projects and add employees to the resource tab on projects so they can track time.  However, we do not add them to the tasks, we just don't utilize that.  Anyway, I can't seem to get a job search to send out an alert to the employee who has been added as a resource.  Does anyone have any advice?
