COA Item Numbering

We have some items in our Chart of Accounts that we would like to have the same names and numbers across all subsidiaries.

For example, "11100 Cash: Petty Cash" should have the same name and numbering in our Hong Kong subsidiary, Beijing Subsidiary, Bangalore Subsidiary, and etc.

When I try to do this, NetSuite throws an error saying that the item number I have entered is already used. Is there anyway around this that anyone knows of?

I thought that if I assigned an item to a subsidiary, that it would be ok if the item number was the same, but seems not.
