Search criteria in Search Results

We have regulatory reporting which requires that we indicate the reporting period date of the report.
We generate PDFs for this purpose.
Dates are implied when there are search results, but if there are no results, nothing is output indicating what period the report represents.
Allowing a variable in the Report Title or Email Subject would be ideal.
Any suggestions?
