email.send attaching to custom records

Hello!  Has anybody had any luck getting an email sent via SuiteScript v2.0 to attach to a custom record using the relatedRecords option?  My email attaches fine to entities & transactions, but when I try to attach to a custom record instead, I get nothing (no error, no attached email).
