Disabling (ideally Hiding) a Sublist field/column

I've do this with SS 1.0, where I've disabled a column field in a sublist using the undocumented  nlapiSetLineItemDisabled method.

Has anyone done this with SS 2.0 ... and wiling to share?

I've LOVE to hide the field, but will settle for disabling it.
