Item vendor prices w/ shipping

How do you keep track of vendor shipping costs?

Sometimes when reordering an item, the chosen vendor is determined by the item price and the item shipping cost.

Having a note field in the item and vendor relationship record would work but there is no ability custom add that field.

Any ideas?
