MRP Planning functions

We are looking for Netsuite users who use a contract manufacturing partner to build their product ( in this case its electronics ) and need the ability to run a formal MRP planning function. Netsuite does not have this functionality built in; how have you achieved this planning function - did you integrate an existing MRP, or get some help from Netsuite to customize a solution ?
