Managing Work In Process

edited Dec 6, 2019 2:40PM in General

We are an ecommerece company selling direct to the consumer. We generally don't manufacture any products; however we do a value added process to some of our products (we add an antiquing finish). I would like to have a way to put the base item, which is a regular stock item, into a work in process to take it out of inventory. Once it has been antiqued it becomes a different inventory item. It then needs to be put into inventory with the new inventory number.

Currently we have set up a seperate assembly item for each of the WIP items, and made the base item an assembly item. When we pull the base item from inventory we build the WIP item. Once the item is antiqued we build the antiqued item.

Howdy, Stranger!
