How to do commission reports (without module)

Does anyone have a good way of doing sales reports for commissions - only we don't have the commission module - NS cost an arm and leg already!

If I do a sales report, it includes only invoices paid on and cash sales - if I customize and uncheck cash only. it includes the same, but also includes invoices paid this month, but were already paid commission on last month.

If I do a sales order report, it does not include credit memos that I need to deduct from sales.

Does that make any sense?
