Temporary Sale/Discount/Promotion on Vendor Purchase Price

What is the best way to put in a reduced Purchase Price on an item or group of items. Ideally you could put in dates for the promotion, but that may be asking too much......anybody have some thoughts?

I have searched and searched but only found ways to create Sales/Discounts/Promotions to our customers.
