Employee Center w/ global permissions

Ok I have five employees with only the employee center role.

Problem is, I need those five users to be able to view transactions at a minimum, at maximum I'd like them to create and edit them as well.  Estimates, sales orders, purchase orders, etc..

Does the global permission 'Transaction Detail' enable this for my five users who only have the employee center role?

On a side note. Where can I find a glossary of definitions for the global permissions?
