Revised Invoice

Is there a way to automatically identify invoices that are revised or changed in any way.

If I create an invoice (IN123456) and send it to the customer then we realize that something was wrong is there a way to mark the invoice "Revised" (IN123456R1)? Note...my thought would be to update the invoice each time it is updated with R1,2,3 etc...
