Contract Renewals- how to handle?

We have people that sign up for our saas products for a term, lets say 6 months.  At the end of that term, we contact them and see if they want to renew and if so we send them a new contract.  I want to try to automate this.  I don't think that billing schedules are correct b/c that only covers the first term.  Is this something that I could do via a memorized transaction or via a campaign to drive people to renew online?  Thoughts? Ideas? TIA!
