alphabetizing drop downs

Can I alphabetize what shows in the drop downs for category and module on the case form?  Right now it is the order of internal ID.  If I turn that off, it is in a different order, but not alpha.  I guess I forgot to mention that it is a custom record with ID, Name and Category.  I am using it to limit module options based on category selected.  I would like the Name values to be in alpha order inside the category.
