What's the best way to manage contacts across multiple subsidiaries?

We're a fairly small company running OneWorld across 5 subsidiaries.  One of the issues that we run into is managing contacts across these subs.  We currently have duplicate records for contacts (one for each subsidiary).  The issue is obviously that you need to update/create 5 records each time you get a new contact.

Is there a better method for this?
