Character limit on 'Name' field of Class record

I would like to find out how to change the character limit of the 'Name' field (Field ID: name) on the 'Class' record.  We have tried to enter and 31 character entry and are getting an error that the limit has been exceeded.  Anyone know how to change this character limit?
