Want to make expired Gift Certificates inactive

We use the gift certificate functionality of NS to issue vouchers to our customers.  They all have expiration dates.  However, we would still like to mark the ones that are expired as inactive.  Has anyone figured out a way to do this in some mass way?  Either mass update or workflow?
