Company without using One World

We have a small subsidiary that is not currently in NetSuite.  There is very little activity and the cost of upgrading to One World is prohibitive for the amount of activity. I was wondering if there might be a best practice for adding a company as a location or class so that a journal entry could be made for the activity related to the sub.
