Using Workflow fields

I am looking for a way to use workflow fields in an email template,  I can not find a way to do this.   What I am trying to do is get access to date that is stored on a associated records and use that data in an email to our Sales Reps.  Currently have have a workflow that is set to use a custom record, I need to send an email with some data from the customer Records that is attached to the custom record.
