Multi-Year Software Subscriptions
Is there a right or wrong way on how a multi-year subscription should be entered into a sales order? For example, if selling a 3 year subscription license - should this be represented as (1) one line item with 3 year terms (1/1/16-12/31/18) OR (2) 3 line items with 1 year term each (1/1/16-12/31/16, 1/1/17-12/31/17, 1/1/18-12/31/18)? Struggling with this a bit as if we go with option (1), billing schedule set to bill annually will cause the quantity to be prorated based on billing schedule. Also, causes the dollar amount to change whenever we adjust the line item on the
