Handling Charge on Gift Certificates?

edited Nov 28, 2019 12:10PM in Accounting / ERP

So I have a fun one if anyone is using the Gift Certificate function in Netsuite.  We have a default $0.20 per item handling charge for UPS orders.  When we setup Gift Certificates, clients were getting charges this handling fee as well, even though there is no option on the Gift Certificate item page to default the handling to $0.00.  Has anyone figured out how to zero out handling on Gift Certificates without just making all default handling $0.00?

On a side note, when we used Quickbooks some time ago, I thought we had a better system for generating handling.  I use to mark up a percentage of the total shipping cost for handling (so UPS charges 8.63 and we mark that amount up 5%).  This always seemed to work out very fair for our orders, much more so then per item charges.  I don't see this option in Netsuite, just a percent markup of the total order value which also doesn't work out too well for us.  Has anyone figured this one out either?

Howdy, Stranger!
