what is the difference between CSC and CUSTOMER CODE??

Can anyone tell me the difference between the CSC and the Customer Code when inputting credit card financial info into NS?

I am pretty sure the CSC is the 3 (or 4 in the case of AM EX) digit security code on the back of the card.

I cannot figure out what the CUSTOMER CODE significance is.

When a customer gives us a new credit card and we input the info (credit card #, exp. date, name on card, etc.) into the new credit card info pop up, it does not ask us for the CSC, it asks us for the CUSTOMER CODE.
