Duplicate Sales Orders!

I have a screen shot showing proof on what is happening when a Sales Order is saved and a Duplicate Number situation is created. I am unable to attached the screen shot but the screen says the following :

Sales Order number SOR20616804 is already used. You may enter a new number below, then click "Save", or click "Leave" to leave the number unchanged.

The Sales Order Number it recommends is SOR2061680!!! That's one entire digit less than what it is supposed to be and it doesn't even let you add a number after it.

What's worse is that it allows you to save the Sales Order without that last number and it will also allow you to "Leave" the number the way it is allowing Duplicate Sales Orders!
