Saved Search by Date of First Sale as KPI

Why is it that I can't use Date of First Sale (on the customer record) to make a custom KPI that can be compared (like this week vs last week).  All my other date fields work, but when I use Date of First Sale the date range goes to Current instead of any Date range.

Any thoughts?
