Sales order emial show shipdate before order being shipped

I had a customer log into NetSuite to check on a order they placed through the web. They clicked on a link that sent them a copy of the sales order. In the heading of the sales order, there is a header named Ship Date that had the Order Date filled in. I went back and looked at all my orders and sure enough, the ship date field has been populated with the order date.

I'm thinking there should not be a ship date because the item has not shipped yet.

Is this how the system supposed to work or is this an error?
