NetSuite Speed

I have recently taken over administration of systems and networks in my company and have noticed a severe problem with the speed at which NetSuite operates.

On some occasions it has taken several minutes to change a page. Also I have found NetSuite to be unusably slow while using Internet Explorer, but while using Firefox there is a huge speed increase.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems?
Is there any reason for this lack of performance?

Any help would be much appreciated.
