Advanced shipping & billing?

Hello,

Our account has had advanced shipping enabled (we need to be able to invoice before an order has been completely fulfilled), and we just signed up for advanced billing.  Turns out that the docs say they're incompatible.  However, both things are enabled (advanced billing was already enabled when they provisioned it) and I don't see anything blowing up yet.

Does anyone have any details as to what the incompatibilities are?  Is this going to cause me serious problems?
