Editing doesnt work

I have spent the better part of an hour updating information in our customer list.  I did this via the "enable editing" mode in list view.  It was slow, but seemed to be working fine.  I then re-ran my search criteria, and all of the changes I have made did not stick.

i do not need this today- anyone else seeing this?
