How do I pull a Customer PO# from an SO and have it show up on a Drop-Ship PO?

when I enter a new order from a customer, I record their PO# in the SO Ref # field. I need to get that number to show up on a drop ship vendor PO so that my manufacturers can reference my customers PO# on their shipments. I'm not sure how to do this.

I tried creating a custom transaction body field as free-form text and then sourcing from Create from > Ref #; However, this field shows up blank.

Does anyone have any ideas?
