Global Search not finding tasks

Trying to perform global searches using ta:call or ta:lm and search returns no items found.  Call and lm (left message) are two of the most common descriptions used for tasks.  Users could perform this search before has anything changed to make this an unusable search?  Any ideas what could be causing this problem?
