2-5 minutes to generate reports, wait, :-(, wait

Is there anyone out there who has, or had, a problem with the slow generation of reports?
The more data we enter into the system the slower the reporting becomes. We have times during the day when it takes up to 4-5 minutes to generate an AR aging. To generate customized income statements and balance sheets is best to do in the weekends from home when you can clean the house or wash the car while the reports are being generated.
Jokes a side, this slowness is really annoying and time consuming. Any thought about this?
