Repeating "Set" UPC Code message in Item history

A couple of weeks ago I started using the UPC Code field that was added in Ver 2007.  Now when I go into the History tab for any item with a UPC Code, I see multiple entries every day shortly after 2:00 AM that refers to a Type "Set" and Field "UPC Code".  There are between 3 and 7 entries every day including weekends.  It's filling my history with a bunch of useless information! 

Is this a bug, or is there a way for me to stop this from happening?
