Mass Updates Not Working

I feel like a broken record.  We are having another issue since the upgrade dealing with parent child records.  We mass update information on customer records often due to the nature of our business.  Mass updates on customer records throw the following error:  Payments have been accepted on the top level parent.  The top level parent can not be changed.  We are trying to reassign entity or customer records.  We are having similar problems with memorized transaction which there is a defect already filed.  Anyone have a case filed on this.
