Problem in using Custom fields

Hi,

I am using custom fields in transactions forms.
I created the custom field with Store Value check box option as "unchecked" at the time of creation of custom field,
it is allowing to insert values to that field, and can get the value by using nlapiGetFieldValue.
Now I changed the store value check box option as "checked" for this custom field, then I am not able to set the value for this custom field. I am getting 'null' value for this field, if we try to insert values to this field.

plz suggest me how to rectify this.
