Error: "system contention too high..."

Attempted to delete a custom field today, and received this message: 


System contention too high to complete operation. Please try again during off-peak hours.



I had only created the field minutes before...realized it wouldnt work the way i had wanted, so i tried to delete...

I will try again later, but  Should i be concerned?
