Location won't save in SO or Fulfillment

Has anyone ever had an inventory item that wouldn't let you save a location (in the SO or in a fulfillment)?  The item has a location set under the inventory tab and the item has inventory.  A new SO automatically has the location set to null.  We change the location to our preferred location and click "save".  After it has saved, the location reverts to null.  The same thing happens with the fulfillment record.

This item is a matrix item that was converted from non-inventory to inventory.
