2008.2 Financial Report Builder

For some reason whatever I try to do to customize the Balance Sheet fails.  I have some reports where I get "an unexpected error has occurred", I get some reports that just won't load.  Even if I just take the standard balance sheet and click on customize and do NOTHING to it except preview it, it won't load.
