Duplicate Numbers (TranId's)

Hi,

I want to restrict the duplicate tranIds in salesorder form, its creating a problem for different roles. Can you please tell me how to stop the creation of duplicate tranids.
Its shows warning but it will not stop the duplication of tranids, Is there any way thru scripts to stop these duplication and also how to get the auto generated number(tranid (next available number)) using script.
