Lead Form State Drop Down List Creating Records with # instead of State Abbrev.

Has anyone seen this before?  Just starting today, our lead forms are creating records whose address information contains a # instead of the state abbreviation.

Does anyone know what could cause this?  Attempting to file a case as we speak...if I could get off hold!
