Matrix Items not allowing user to select option

I would like to know if anyone else is having this problem.

We have a bunch of matrix items that have color options – ever since our upgrade a few items lose the ability to select a color and if you try to buy it, it says “we do not sell item ##### with that particular combination of options. Please select a different combination of options”. Customers cannot add the item to their cart, hence, they are not buying.

It was only about 5% of the items at a time. Netsuite technical support gave me a work around; open the parent matrix item, make a small change, then save. It fixes the problem, at least for awhile. After a few hours, the problem may have returned on that part or a new part now has that issue. I am having to go and check every item on every page of the sites (we have multiple sites and it happens on all of them) every few hours to see which ones have this problem, go to each item and save.
