Drop Ship Help needed

Any drop shippers out there that I can touch base with to see how you handle your fulfillment piece and accounting?

Because drop ship product does not come into inventory - cost is not associated until billing.  However, sometimes the drop ship product comes back as a return and we need to enter into inventory?

Any work around out there?  How are you handling the accounting piece?

Thanks so much.  I am willing to talk off line if needed.
