E-mailing contacts from transactions

Hello,

Why is it that when I compile a list of contacts on a transaction (Opportunity or Sales Order) I am unable to e-mail these contacts from the transaction. The list of contacts that can be e-mailed are from the Customer. If I wanted to e-mail a contact from the customer record I would do it from there!

Am I missing something fundamental or should this have been fixed years ago?
