Coupon code for free shipping showing error

When we use a coupon code for free shipping on all orders and it automatically passes through checkout, during the shipping stage of checkout where the coupon code is displayed, it comes up with:

The free shipping method is not available for your address.
Coupon Code: XYZ (accepted)

The free shipping is still applied in the final stage of checkout, but this "The free shipping method is not available for your address." text we obviously don't want to appear.

Anyone else had this problem?
