Can't switch role (dropdown disappears)

This happens to me or one of my teammates at least once a day. We are happily using NetSuite when suddenly the role dropdown disappears. No matter what page you navigate to, it will not display. It reappears sometime later, but we haven't found a pattern to reliably trigger that reappearance. Yesterday, I happened to be on the Set Preference page when it came back, after about twenty minutes. The guy sitting next to me hasn't been so lucky today - it's been missing for hours.

Logging out and clearing browser cache does not help. This happens in both production and sandbox instances, and Ive seen it in both IE and Firefox.
