Web services failure

We have been receiving thousands of web services unexpected errors recently.  It seems to be related to Vendor and Customer web services roles -- they are able to access the system but when performing certain actions they get an unexpected error.  Employee roles with web services using the same code will not receive the error.

This is customer facing for us so quite urgent.  Anybody else experiencing a similar problem?
