Internet Explorer Spinner Icon

In chrome and firefox I can see the spinner icon when certain things are in process in NetSuite (like uploading a file to the file cabinet or making many direct list edits at the same time).



For whatever reason, I don't have this spinner icon in IE9 or IE10. The page just looks dead and you can't really tell if anything is happening on the page.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Is there a setting I can change in IE to show to spinner icon when things are in process?
