Tasks - Cannot Create New

Since we received the new release, we are unable to create new tasks from the customer record.  I was told it is a defect and was given a workaround to create tasks from the Activity tab and that does not work either.

Any suggestions as our Marketing Group creates and assigns tasks frequently.
