Formula resulting in incorrect data due to sub-records on search

I have a transaction search that is giving my incorrect summary data due to sub-records being called in the search. I know this is the problem because if I build the search without any of the sub-records I get the correct data.   Is there a way in a formula to deal with this issue, basically group inside the formula and and duplicate the records multiple times?
