GL codes on item records

What is everyone doing on item record creation to ensure they are using the correct GL codes?  On the accounting tab of the inventory record, we are sometimes seeing mistakes in the account numbers that are entered.  and I haven't been able to figure out a way to do a saved search to verify or download the account assignments (topic for another post).  So I'm wondering what other companies do to make sure the GL codes are correct.  Thanks.
