Create Custom Record as After Record Submit Step in Contact Workflow

I have a very simple custom record I need to create after a custom button is pushed on my contact record. I find i cannot reference 2 fields successfully.

I refer to the contact and the customer record in question on the custom record. During the CREATE RECORD workflow action attempting to populate the Value field for contact the options are not even appropriate. Company is also rejected when trying to map to the customer custom field.

any thoughts? Am I just too tired to think straight?
